Has Rape Become the New Normalcy?
Rape/Sexual Assaults has been in existence for a very long time and it is an occurrence that in most cases has always assumed the female gender being the victim. Rape as we know it does not happen to older females only, in fact it is a very common occurence to girls of young age who cannot make sound judgments for themselves. Rape does not only come with physical damages, it sometimes comes with long-lasting emotional and psychological issues except effective therapies are put in place to remedy the issues. What about the victims of rape who had their life ended either by the rapists or those who committed suicide when they cannot live with the trauma of being sexually molested.
The disgusting and unimaginable happenings of rape in our country as we hear from the daily news and the few ones some people have witnessed in certain areas of the country is the alarming rates at which some irresponsible and devilish adult males defile toddlers. Like, what pleasure do they get in doing such things?
These men that we mostly see as family friends and area uncles are

capable of doing the unthinkable. Parents these days are non-challant and care-free when it comes to leaving their children with people who live around them. Parents are too engrossed with getting their daily breads that they forget to listen the things that make these innocent children uncomfortable. They allow any male available to touch these children, sit on their laps, being out of their reach for long hours that they are supposed to be at home under their watch (excluding school hours).
From experience, children will naturally get attached to anyone who they see every day, buy things for them, eat with them, play around with them and so on (even though all these are normal). These uncles may likely take advantage of these children and start having unhealthy relationships with them without the knowledge of their parents.
While many cases regarding the rape of females that has been reported, how many has been reported concerning the young boys or are they exempted from the situation. Most boys have to deal with this on their own and grow out of it on their own. Should I say, its because the females are the most vulnerable and the males are not?
As there are irresponsible uncles out there, so we have devilish aunties too who defile this young boys and tell these boys not to tell anyone including their parents. How then do these parents know what’s going on with their boys while they leave them to these aunties to take care of when they are away at work or those aunties that take these boys on after school lessons?
Such boys mostly will most likely start to explore their sexual fantasies when these aunties are no longer available at a very tender age. How would these parents know? It is unlike the girl child where they can easily notice on their bodies. Such boys may end up being a big fan of “child pornography”, some may venture into masturbation and in some cases, some of these boys get attracted to mostly females of older age.
Some parents are too carefree with their child-upbringing, it is important to take into notice the kind of movies this kids watch as most movies these days comes with adult contents, even the animations and cartoons these kids watch. Kids nowadays are so mentally developed that they can operate mobile devices and computers that some grown adults may not properly use. They are certain measures to control that which these parents do not know. Some parents think the idea of child-upbringing/parenting is; “I am the man, you are the woman; I impregnate you, you give birth; I go to work and bring money, you take care of the kids, take them to school, greet their teachers, clean the house and cook the food; When I come home, I should not be disturbed and so on.” Like it’s a contract of 2 parties. No!!!
It takes an intelligent parent who with his/her tight schedule CREATES time for their children, listen to the LITTLE THINGS they have to say, PLAY with them as you are likely to pick TRUTHS from what they are saying while playing. TEACH them MORALS and make them EXHIBIT it.
Every rapists out there came from a family, some were as a result of distorted and undisciplined upbringing . Every family needs to take actions and not blame the government for everything.
In as much as the pains and bad feelings that comes with rape are evident, there are ladies/women who never allowed such to take away their self esteem or worth. First step is saying it out (seeing a psychologist may help) and drop the burden. Boys who are sexually molested should also be given a voice among the audience.
It is no longer news that security is not guaranteed in this country. Therefore, ladies who are seen as the most vulnerable victims of rape should take personal safety routines. A few combat training won’t hurt, the pepper spray will buy you time to find an escape route, avoid walking at extreme periods of the night and so on.
As the cases rises each day with men as the rapists, we plead with such men to put an end to it and control their “nozzles” at every time. NO is NO, respect her decision before we are all labeled as rapists.
The government should put extreme measures in place for any rapist be it man or woman and wish they never did it.
I have not raped and will never be a rapist.
